Rudy Lee Calvin, 73, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026. He was born on March 10, 1953, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the son of William H. and Rosie Jane (Smith) Calvin. Rudy was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School Class of 1972.
Rudy dedicated fifty-three years of his working life to Champion Laboratories, where he worked in Tool and Die until the company’s closing. He took great pride in his work and the many years he spent with his coworkers. Rudy enjoyed traveling, attending St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, and spending time with his siblings and family. He especially cherished the time he spent with those he loved and the memories they made together. Rudy was also a member of Mt. Carmel Free Methodist Church and loved his church family.
Rudy will be remembered by siblings, Harriet Jane Peterson, William Daryl Calvin, Cheryl L. (Richard) Mitchell, and Vincent Douglas Calvin; nieces and nephews, Tracey Peterson, William David Calvin, Tosha (Mike) Baker, Trevor Mitchell, Shauna (Robby) Wardrip and Jamie Best; great nieces and nephews, Vash and Bishop Baker, Jayzale and Jaylon O’Neal; special friend, Flora Williams. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey Jr. Calvin.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2026, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2026, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
