Ida Mae Wilderman, 91, of Mt Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on Thursday, August 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 19, 1933, in Wabash County, Illinois to William M. Pohl and Helen A. (Wahler) Pohl. Ida Mae married Charles E. Wilderman on September 19, 1953, at St. Mary’s Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
Ida Mae was a devoted wife and mother, and wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a great cook, known for her Fried Chicken and Mashed Potatoes and Chicken Strips.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Ida Mae was a bookkeeper for many years at Wilderman Bros. Appliance Store from 1975-1994.
Ida Mae is survived by her son, David (Laura) Wilderman; her daughter, Beverly Magee (Les Anderson); brother, James “Jim” Pohl (Ida’s favorite fishing buddy); grandchildren, Hannah Stunkel, Erin Wilderman, Jason (Traci) Dossett, Justin Dossett and partner, Cristina Campolieto, Kyle (Ashley) Magee, Meagen (Jeff) Coester, Lee (Chelsey Caputo) Anderson; eleven great-grandchildren and four bonus great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Charles; two brothers, William Pohl and Robert Pohl and her infant sister, Catherine Pohl.
A Celebration of Life for Ida Mae will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 125 W 5th Street, Mt. Carmel, IL 62863 at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, August 29, 2025, in the Gathering Space at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. Burial beside her husband will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School.
