Melba Eloise Anderson, 89, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025, at The Heritage Center in Evansville, Indiana.
Visitation for Melba will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Melba was born September 20, 1935, at Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Opal (Brines) Maidlow. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. She married Don Anderson and upon his death, they had been married 52 years.
She was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile. Melba worked as a clothing inspector for Johnnye Manufacturing.
Left to cherish Melba’s memory are her children Janet (Mike) Kiel of Arlington, Virginia, Terry (Leo) Zimmer of Evansville, Indiana and Bernie (Carla) Drone of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Casie (Adam) Bizuwork, Isaac (Sarah) Kiel, Natalie (Ryan) Kassenbrock, Todd (Amber) Zimmer, Samantha (Jake) Newkirk, Sabrina (Josh) Staub, Jake (Hilary) Drone and Joe (Kayla) Drone; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Erma Flummerfelt of Ames, Iowa and Nelda Mark of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Patricia Seitz and Wilma Johnson.
