Carolyn S. “Susie” Neikirk, 80

Carolyn S. “Susie” Neikirk, 80, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 12, 1945 in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of Hershel and Ruth (Hess) Richardson. She married John Neikirk on August 31, 1963 together they enjoyed sixty-two years of marriage centered on their family.

Susie will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was found in her family, especially in the privilege of watching her grandchildren grow and supporting them in all their activities. She found happiness in the simple things that come with farm life, caring for her dogs, goats, and cats. Susie also loved tending to her flowers and being outdoors. She took great pride in her work as a pharmacy technician, where her compassion and dedication touched many lives.

Susie will be remembered by her husband, John Neikirk; two daughters, Melanie Cropper and husband, Brian, and Sara Brandenburg and husband, Eric; two grandchildren, Brynna (Wade Ruth) Cropper and Wade Cropper; many loved brothers and sisters in law; along with close friends.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Ruth Anna Richardson; brothers-in-law, Steve, Robert, and Gene Neikirk and Bernard Turpin; sister-in-law, Joyce DeHaven.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Dustin Leek officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Susie’s memory to Wabash Rally Against Cancer. Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
