Aaron Hankins Murphy, 66, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024, at home. He was born on December 21, 1957, in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Marlin Eugene and Wynema Laura (Hankins) Murphy.
Aaron attended high school in Princeton, Indiana, and after a family move, he attended and graduated from Lawrenceville High School. He was a hard worker in the oilfields for Marathon Oil Company and then Plains Oil Company. In his spare time, Aaron enjoyed building and racing drag motorcycles. He also loved restoring old motorcycles and working on cars. Aaron was a loving son, brother and uncle who will be missed by his family and friends.
Aaron leaves behind his beloved mother, Wynema; one brother, Michael Murphy and wife, Cathy; two nephews, Andy Murphy and wife, Amanda, and Eric Haines; great nephew, Silas Murphy; cousins, Marcie Kasinger and husband, Terry, Linda Walton and husband, Dave, Erica Walton, Andrea Walton, Chad Curry; former sister-in-law and friend, Tonya Murphy.
Aaron was preceded in death by his father; brother, Kevin Murphy and wife, Sue.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2024, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
The family will gather privately for Funeral Services Tuesday, July 23, 2024, with burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery in Freelandville, Indiana.
