Anne Catherine Cleary, 88, Sandy Springs (Atlanta), Georgia, passed away on July 17,2024, at Emory St.Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, with family by her side. Born July 3, 1936, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois to Edward John and Clara Trapp Cleary, she was the second to youngest of eight children. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Mt. Carmel High School, graduating in 1954. After graduation she worked for the City of Mt. Carmel.
In the early 1960's she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, and secured a position in the Zone Office for Oldsmobile Division, General Motors Corporation. After several years, GM closed that office and she was transferred to Charlotte, N. C., and later to Atlanta, Georgia, retiring at the age of 55 from General Motors.
Anne volunteered for 25 years at Emory St. Joseph's Hospital, Atlanta, giving over 6,000 hours. She served on the Volunteer Auxiliary Board and chaired several services and various volunteer fundraisers
She enjoyed life in Atlanta keeping busy with volunteering, traveling, baking, furniture refinishing and socializing with friends.
Anne is survived by her sister/best friend, Kathie (Jack) Ruschmeier of Tampa, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, 5 brothers, James, Lawrence, Edward, Joseph and Richard and one sister, Barbara Cleary Nelson. . Loved as a daughter, sister, aunt and best friend, she will be missed by her family and friends.
Memorial Mass was held in the Chapel at Emory St. Joseph's Hospital Atlanta, with Father Patrick Scully officiating. Internment will be in the family plot at St. Mary's Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, at a later date. H.M.Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, Atlanta assisted the family.
