Eugene S. Shotts, 81, of Marshall, IL, passed away 8:15 PM Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 at his home surrounded with the love of his family.
Gene was born September 10, 1941 in the Clarksville area of Clark Co., IL, the son of Seth and Goldie Simpson Shotts. On August 26, 1961 he married Carolyn Martin at Clarksville.
Surviving are his wife; three children, Debbie (Mike) Garling, Greg (Karen) Shotts and Dee Dee (Mike) Rhoads; grandchildren, Dusty (Jamie) Shotts, Kristi (Gus) Garling, Tyler (Dru) Shotts, Josh Brittney) Garling, Ryan (Shelby) Hefner, Dalton (Karlee) Hefner, Connor (Zoey) Hefner, Jamie (Tim) Kiefner and Christine (Dana)) Scifers; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a sister, Sherry (Felix) Farrell and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers,William, Ronald D., Doit, Jim and a sister, Retta Tally.
Gene retired as a Supt. for Howell Asphalt Co. He was a member and Deacon of the Clarksville Baptist Church, the American Legion and was a graduate of Marshall High School. He was a veteran of the Army Reserves.
Services in honor of his life will be 1:00 PM Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Art Orndorff officiating. Burial will be in the Clarksville Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
