Tracy Dunkel, 53

Tracy Dunkel, 53, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away, Sunday, July 2, 2023, at home. She was born on February 2, 1970, in Warren Michigan, the daughter of Vickie (Stephenson) Moyers. She married Tony Dunkel on December 20, 1997, at St. Mary Catholic Church and they have celebrated twenty-six years of marriage.

Tracy has been serving as the Director of the Wabash County Cafeteria and Senior Center for seventeen years. Her dedication to the center, her co-workers and the patrons was very much appreciated. Before coming to the Senior Center, Tracy was the director at WADI. She earned a business degree at Wabash Valley College and was currently serving as the Treasurer for the Village of Bellmont. Every job Tracy undertook, she would work to the best of her ability. She has been a vital part of TNT Disposal, the family business she owned along with her husband. In her spare time, Tracy enjoyed sitting on the front porch, playing her game, toy blast. She loved spending time at the river cabin and attending the VFW Bingo, which she referred to as “girls’ night”. She was a member of Job’s Daughters. Most important to Tracy was her family. She loved spending time with them and having family dinners. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. Tracy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her presence on this earth will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Tracy leaves behind her beloved husband, Tony; son, Matt Dowell (Jalyn Smith); daughters, Courtney Gillihan, Aleah Dunkel, and Autumn Dunkel; six grandchildren, Aiden, Michael, Easton, Kyle, Maverick, and Remington; one brother, Joe Moyers; one sister, Heather (Ronnie) Birkla; and several loved cousins.

Tracy was preceded in death by her mother; maternal grandparents, Bill and Wilma Stephenson; brother, Jason Hicks.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2023, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2023, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Garner officiating.
