Sharon Kay Schafer, 79, entered eternal life into the loving arms of Jesus on December 24, 2023. She was born on March 29, 1944 in Mount Carmel, Illinois, to the late parents of Virgil & Evelyn Walker. She met her husband Ed Schafer while attending Allendale High School.
The two moved to St. Louis where Sharon worked in sales with Allied Van Lines. She was best known for her amazing candy making which led her to open and operate the well-known Paradise Candies on Main Street in St. Charles Missouri.
She was an active member of the Historic Main Street Preservation Society in St. Charles along with her and her husband owning their lovely Bed & Breakfast in St. Charles. They retired in Branson Missouri to be closer to their grandchildren. Sharon was an active member of the social committee with Sunset Cove in Branson, MO. During her younger years she enjoyed playing the piano and organ at the St. Peters MO Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Bracker and husband, Dan; granddaughters, Abby Wright and husband, Tyler, Hannah Kelley and husband, Kole; great grandchildren, Kayda Faith Wright, Kynlee Grace Wright, and Kasen Ray Kelley; brothers, Richard (Debbie) Walker and Greg Walker; sisters, Linda Bates, Brenda (Harry) Hottel & Debbie (Greg) Smith.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Schafer; brothers, Randy Walker, and Jim Walker; sister, Judy Hunt.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Allendale Cemetery. Immediately following, Sharon’s life and legacy will be honored with a sweet celebration of dessert and fellowship at the Allendale Ruritan Building.
