Robert “Bob” Lee Sherman, 78

Robert “Bob” Lee Sherman, 78, passed away suddenly Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville, Indiana.

He was born August 4, 1944, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the son of Fred and Betty (Henson) Sherman. He lived on their family land all his life. Bob graduated from Mt. Carmel High School He is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division. On May 29, 1971, Bob married Nancy Miller in Francisco, Indiana. He was a member of the Francisco Baptist Church.

Bob worked in the electrical department at Pacific Press and Shear. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Masonic Lodge #239 and VFW Post #4276. Bob loved to cook and was well known for his amazing baked beans and barbecue. His favorite saying was always, “Another day, another new adventure.”

Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Sherman; son, Robert (Crystal) Sherman of Cincinnati, Ohio; and brother, Fred (Deanie) Sherman of Mt. Carmel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Fred Sherman

A visitation will be Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 12:00 until 1:30 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Masonic Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals For Children, 4400 Clayton Street, St. Louis, Missouri 63110. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
