Joyce Diane (Rosignol) Swanson, 80, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, slipped peacefully away to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 24,1942, the daughter of Perry and Myrtle (Guard) Rosignol. Joyce was the oldest of four children. She married Michael C. Swanson on April 14, 1963. They had two children, Teresa (Jim) Braunlich, of Michigan, and Michael C. Swanson II, of Mount Carmel.
Joyce enjoyed gardening and canning, her time as a hospice and private duty nurse, serving with the food pantry at the Nazarene Church, volunteering at the hospital gift shop, fishing trips with Mike, along with many adventures that included Aunt Dorothy Peach. Joyce loved to watch her four grandchildren play, then her twelve great-grandchildren. She would put a lot of thought into their birthday and Christmas gifts. Joyce was a member of the Nazarene Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Joyce leaves behind her two children, Teresa Braunlich and husband Jim, and Mike Swanson II; grandchildren, Jason (Malak) Overbee, Eric (Samantha Smith) Swanson, Kristy (Jeremy) Bray, Elizabeth (Daniel Dudley) Swanson; great-grandchildren, KaleeAnn, Gabriel, and Xander Overbee, Alayna Swanson, Jonah, and Ezrah Dudley, Tristan, Chandler, Karson, and Lola Bray, Elora and Waylon Swanson; brothers, Paul (Nancy) Rosignol, and Bill (Cindy) Rosignol; several loved nieces and nephews.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael C. Swanson; brother Howard Rosignol and wife Etta.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Richison officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
