Henry Simmons Price, 79, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by friends and family.
Henry was born June 5, 1943, in Greensburg, Kentucky, the son of Henry Luther Price and Nina Lora (Burton) Bowman.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Carmi, Illinois. He received his Associate Degree from Wabash Valley College. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Fulda Germany guarding the Berlin Wall and discharged with a rank of Sergeant E-5 NCO. Henry retired from Snap-On Tools after twenty-eight years of hard work and dedication.
Henry was an avid bowler, having bowled in several leagues in the area. He loved throwing horseshoes and washers. He always had a smile on his face; he never met a stranger. Always active, loved dancing and yoga. He enjoyed many meals at Big Jon’s Lunchbox in Mt. Carmel. He was known to be early for everything. He enjoyed travel, especially bus trips where he met the love of his life.
Henry is survived by his children, Gail (Roger) Dailey of Owensville, Indiana, Julie (Elijah) Keeper of Owensville, Indiana; grandchildren Mercedes (Tim) McCormick, Kristin Burden, Lexus Keeper, Kalea Garrett; great grandchildren, Kade, Kimber, Callahan, Timmy, Elias, Mila and Greyson Henry; sister, Carolyn Sue Bishop of Greensburg, Kentucky; significant other and love of his life Linda Carter of Carmi, Illinois and her children, Kenny Carter and Pam Hammell; and several nieces and nephews.
He loved time spent with his family, especially his daughters and granddaughters whom he lovingly called his “6-pack of girls”. Henry was an avid Chicago Cubs and Kentucky Wildcats fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry Joe Price.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Masonic Service starting at 7:30 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home. Celebration of Life for Henry Price will take place Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois 62863. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Maumee Cemetery in Johnson, Indiana.
