Jay Michael Linson, 53

Jay Michael Linson, 53, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana with family by his side.

Mike was born May 29, 1968 the son of John A. and Carolyn Jean (Porter) Linson. He loved being a part of the golden aces football team and graduating Mt. Carmel High School Class of 1986. Graduate of Wabash Valley College in 1993 earning an Associate Degree in Telecommunications where he pursued his career in telecom for 28 years.

Mike faithfully served his country as a Marine for four years from 1986 to 1991. During these four years he also served in Operation Desert Storm. He earned several awards and medals, including Rifle Expert Badge (3rd Award), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Mast, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member of the Mt. Carmel VFW post.

Left to cherish Mike’s memory are his children Chase Michael Linson of Lancaster, IL, Brooke E. (Ryan) Sanders of Mt. Carmel, IL, Lorna M. Linson of Boonville, IN; one granddaughter, Charlie M. Linson; siblings, Lee A. Linson of Mt. Carmel, Tim A. Newton of Evansville, John Linson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeff Linson of Mt. Carmel, Cathy Linson of Grayville, IL, Kevin Linson of Grayville, Kevin Porter of Boonville, IN and Cathy Dooley of Mt. Carmel; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. As well as many lifelong friends.

He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends especially with his beloved son Chase. He was an avid coin and gun collector. He was especially known for his witty sense of humor and loved nothing more than making his family and friends laugh.

He was preceded in death by father John A. Linson, stepfather Bill Porter, brothers Dennis Wayne Linson, Dale Porter and sister Vickie Spruell.

A Private Family Service will be scheduled at a later date.
