Ada Pearl Windle, 78

Ada Pearl Windle, 78, from Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Oakview Heights surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born the youngest daughter of William and Velva (Carol) Harmon on October 4, 1943, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Ada was a faithful member of Hope Fellowship Church.

Ada started her career as a short order cook at Walnut Street Diner; working for various other restaurants after Walnut Street Diner closed. She loved making cookies. At Christmas, she made cookies for her family, and, as a member of the Eagles, she made cookies for all their functions. Her favorite time was the Halloween party her family had every year. They all dressed up and all the family was there.

Left to cherish Ada’s memory are her children, Trenia (Mark) Wagner, Darrin (Bonita) Windle, and Rona (Jr.) Adams, all of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; a sister, Judy Monnett of Kentland, Indiana; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and Albert Lemond, a special friend for 18 years.

Ada was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sherry Woods; a grandson, Justin Lofton; and a great-grandson, Cassing Dill.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

A graveside Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
