William “Willie” Mayberry, 72, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Wabash General Hospital. He was born December 28, 1947 in Mount Carmel, the son of William G. and Evelyn V. (Brock) Mayberry. He married Cathy Norris on February 29, 1972 and she survives.
Willie faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He was employed at Mount Carmel Public Utility Company for thirty-four years. Willie had a passion for antique autos. He was a member of the Wabash Valley Auto Club and a founding member of Road Earls II of Princeton, Indiana. He participated in many auto shows with the various cars he restored over the years and was a frequent award winner. In his spare time Willie enjoyed a game of golf with friends. He frequently spent time at Norm’s Barber Shop and Hogg Heaven Restaurant having a cup of coffee and good conversation with friends. Willie and Cathy enjoyed traveling. He loved his family dearly. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life and brought him much joy. Willie was a good friend to many and will be dearly missed.
Willie will forever be remembered by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Cathy; daughters, Amber (Joe) DiMaria of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, Trina Joy “TJ” Mayberry of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Gavin and Sophia Mayberry, Luca and Nico DiMaria; brother Dwight (Linda) Mayberry; sister, Linda Sue Doan; and several nieces and nephews.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Shirley Ann Mayberry, niece, Cindy Mayberry; nephew Robbie Mayberry; aunt, Violet Pfeister; and brother-in-law, Tom Doan.
Family and their closest friends will gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2020 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. In order to limit possible exposure to illness, the family will welcome cards mailed to them in care of Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863, from others wishing to express their condolences.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2020 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
