Eva June House, 92, of Allendale, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2020 at her residence surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 15, 1927 in Crawford County, Indiana, the daughter of Arnim and Alta (Logsdon) Crecelius. June married Charles Robert House on November 14, 1942 and together they enjoyed twenty-seven years of marriage before his passing on December 27, 1969.
June was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. June’s family meant the world to her and she always treasured time spent together. She loved making quilts for her family and would spend many hours on a quilt to make it special for her family. June also enjoyed making and donating her handmade quilts to the Allendale School for many fundraisers. June was baptized on April 26, 1981 and was a member of Allendale United Methodist Church.
June worked at Wabash General Hospital in housekeeping for thirty-one years. She also cleaned at Amax Mine and worked at the Allendale School as a custodian. June always enjoyed volunteering at the Allendale Senior Citizens.
June will be remembered by her children, Leona Gher of Olney, IL, Joyce Storckman of Fruitland Park, FL, Karen (Michael) Hershey of Allendale, Connie (Stephen Smith) Simmons of Mount Carmel, and Robert (Donna) House of Evansville; thirteen grandchildren, Christopher (Kimberly Ann) Gher, Angela Davis, Brian Hedge, Leah (Jeff) Jackson, Amy (Michael) Blake, Justin (Kami) Hershey, Kyle (Amanda) Hershey, Cory (Erin) Hershey, Patrick (Donna) House, Rob (Luwanda) House, Jason (Jennifer) Simmons, Eva June (Rance) Higgins, and Michael House; twenty five great grandchildren; nineteen great great grandchildren; and sister, Liz Hagen.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Charles House; parents; son, Elmer E. House; granddaughter, Theresa House; sister, Bonnie Odle; brother, Cleo Crecelius; sons in law, Norman Gher and Byron Storckman.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2020, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2020, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Richison officiating. Burial will follow at Allendale Cemetery.
