Angelika M. “Angie” Martin, 67, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 at home. She was born on April 30,1953 in Reichenbach, Germany, the daughter of Franz Joseph and Elsa (Maile) Klinnert. She married Justin D. “Jay” Martin on June 7, 1983 and he preceded her in death.
While living in Germany, Angie was employed as a beautician. After moving to the United States, she took a position as a seamstress at Mt. Carmel Apparel and later at Pearison Inc. in Cynthiana, IN. Angie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting and gardening. She was a charitable person and enjoyed helping whenever she could. Angie loved her family dearly and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Angie leaves behind her sons, Steve Smith and wife Julie of Clarksville, TN, Jeff Smith and wife Carrie of Thompsonville, IL, Cody Martin and wife Kyla of RAF Lakenheath, England; grandchildren, Landon, Lane and Lucas Smith, Chayson, Alexander and Wyatt Smith, Kyle, Christopher, Katelyn and Kevin Martin; great-grandchildren, Brooke Brown and Emma Smith; brother, Udo Klinnert.
In addition to her husband Jay Martin, Angie was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2020 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. Social distancing practices will be in place.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2020 in the Chapel of Keepes funeral Home with Pastor Allan Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to honor Angie may be made to The Lunch Wagon and will be accepted at the Funeral Home or may be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry St. Mt. Carmel, IL 62863.
