Frank J. Baumgart, Jr., 91, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation. He was born on March 3, 1928 in Wabash County, Illinois the son of Frank and Laura (Steckler) Baumgart, Sr.
Frank’s greatest achievement was serving in the United States Army. He enlisted from 1951- 1953 during the Korean War. He was very patriotic and proud to be a member of our local honor guard. He owned and operated Baumgart Seed Store. Among his hobbies, Frank was an avid coin and stamp collector. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Eagles. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mount Carmel, IL.
Frank will be remembered by his daughter, Mary Shaw and husband Rick of Lawrenceville, IL; granddaughter, Brandy Jewel of Brazil, IN; great granddaughter, Lauren Jewel; and many close friends.
Private Graveside Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
