Phyllis A. Harms, 60

Phyllis A. Harms, 60, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, July 27, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born on December 31, 1958 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Robert W. Brown and Elizabeth (Neaveill) Dunkel. Phyllis was raised by her mom and Jerome “Jerry” Dunkel whom she loving referred to as dad. Phyllis married Phillip Harms on May 1, 2000 and together they enjoyed nineteen years of marriage.

Phyllis was a loving wife, mom and grandma. Some of Phyllis’ fondest memories were spent at the river camp where she enjoyed camping and fishing. At the river camp she also loved attending the community dinners. Phyllis loved to fly kites and watching them soar high into the sky. Her nieces and nephews were very special to her; she loved to aggravate and tease them. She worked at Champion Laboratories for forty-two years and retired as a team leader.

Phyllis will be remembered by her husband, Phillip Harms; two sons, Phillip Lang of Mount Carmel and Chad Dilley of Bone Gap; one daughter, Kimberly Sergesketter of Evansville, IN; ten grandchildren, Shayln Dilley, Brianna Dilley, Hayley Dilley, Felicia Dilley, Emily Dilley, Patrick Dilley, Joyce Lang, Cheyenne Griffin, Jayden Phillips and Thorin Sergesketter; dad, Jerry Dunkel; three brothers, Douglas Brown of Oregon, Michael (Denise) Brown of Round Rock, TX and Brian (Holly) Dunkel of Hazelton, IN; three sisters, Barbara (Jim) Burns of Mount Carmel, Donna Lord of Mount Carmel and Teresa Farrar of Evansville, IN; many loved nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her mom and father; and son, Jason Dilley.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. Phyllis and her family had requested that all of their friends and family dress casual, just come as you are.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Brother Bill Reed and Jim Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Friendsville Cemetery.
