Bonnie J. Puntney, 86, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at her residence surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 12, 1932 in St. Francisville, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Bonnie (Pulleyblank) Stark. She graduated St. Francisville High School Class of 1950. Bonnie married A. W. Puntney and he preceded her in death.
Bonnie was a great educator and had a love for learning. She started her teaching career in Missouri where she taught in a one room school. She was a reading coordinator for District 348 for over thirty years. She helped start the Library at South School. Bonnie’s family was very dear to her and she treasured the time she spent with them. She was a member of E.U.M. Church. Bonnie will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
Bonnie will be remembered by her daughter, Bonnie Griggs and husband, Jay of Mount Carmel, IL; grandchildren, Brandon (Sara) Griggs, Ariel Cadigan and Jayla Griggs; great grandson, George Adams-Griggs; several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.W. Puntney; brothers, Emmet “Bus” Stark and Joseph “Bud” Stark; sisters, Geraldine “Jerry” Mossburger and Joan Stephenson.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in St. Francisville, IL.
