John F. Fisher, 71

John F. Fisher, 71, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born June 28, 1947 in Princeton, Indiana, the son of Noble Verne and Frances (Morrison) Fisher. He married Charla Smith on December 6, 1970. Together they enjoyed forty-eight years of marriage.

John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Railroad Engineer for Norfolk Southern Railway for thirty-seven years before retiring. In his spare time, John enjoyed working in his garage re-building old cars and trucks. Later he began building model cars. His “garage buddies” stopped by daily and John looked forward to their visits. He was a member of the Mount Carmel High School graduating class of 1965. John loved his whole family dearly. He treasured the time he could spend with his sons. His three granddaughters held a special place in his heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

John will be remembered by his loving wife, Charla; two sons, Scott and his wife April Fisher, Mark and his wife Jennifer Fisher; three granddaughters, Kaleigh, Lexi and Lauren Fisher; and one sister Pat and her husband Wayne Walston; and one niece and two nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sue Fisher.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m., Thursday, April 4, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Graveside Services will be at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Randy Snelling officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted.
