Kenneth “Kenny” Ray McKay, 78

Kenneth “Kenny” Ray McKay, 78, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born on February 15, 1941, in Golden Gate, Illinois, the son of Chaney and Lois (Chalcraft) McKay.  Kenny married Connie Bratton on October 12, 1963, at Asbury Chapel in Mount Carmel, Illinois.  Together Kenny and Connie enjoyed fifty-five years of marriage centered on their family.

Kenny faithfully served his Country in the United States Army.  His favorite time was spent with family and he loved attending his grandchildren’s many activities.  Kenny loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting.  He also was an avid fisherman and loved sharing his fishing stories.  Kenny also loved a good game of pool with family and friends.  He retired from Snap-On Tools after forty years of service.  He was a member of Keensburg Christian Church.  Kenny will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Kenny will be remembered by his wife, Connie McKay of Mount Carmel; three daughters, Kristi Berry and husband John of Bellmont, Elaine Sharp and husband Travis of Bone Gap and Michelle Milner and husband Daren of Olney, IL; nine grandchildren, Cole and Connor Berry, Kianna, Samantha, Evelyn, Ava and Heston Sharp and Madelynn and Jaedyn Milner; brother in law, Charles Pierce; sister in law, Betty McKay; many loved nieces and nephews.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Patty Pierce and Linda McKay; and one brother, Jerry McKay.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Monday April 1, 2019, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2019, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Wright officiating.  Prior to the start of the Funeral Service, our local honor guard will have a Military Walkthrough.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

Memorial contributions may be made in Kenny’s memory to Keensburg Christian Church.  Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
