Reta Faye (Stewart) Hill, 92 of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born December 4, 1925 in White County, Illinois the daughter of John and Mary (Reed) Stewart. Reta married James Robert Hill of Fairfield, Illinois on November 27, 1944. James preceded her in death on November 16, 1994.
Reta worked at Hadley’s Café during the 1960’s and then at Mount Carmel Apparel Company. One of Reta’s hobbies was quilting and she was a member of the Homespun Quilting Club. She also enjoyed traveling and gardening. Reta was a member of the First General Baptist Church. She was loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
Reta will be remembered by her two sons, Mike Hill and John Hill of Mount Carmel; one daughter, Mary (Jeff) Linson of Mount Carmel; ten grandchildren, Amy (Kieth) Poehlein, David Hill, Eric (Katie) Hill, Tammy (Earl) Lofland, Carolyn Story, Chris Hill, Elizabeth Fortner, Jacob Hill, J.C. (Melanie) Linson, Nathan (Lisa Dillard) Linson; twenty-four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ruth Merrett, her twin sister Reba Tibbs, Kay Hillegeist, Lou Gooch, Lea Doty; one brother, Bob Stewart; sisters-in-law, Elvira Stewart, Mary Stewart; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Reta was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Russel Hill; two brothers John and Thomas Stewart, and one sister Augusta Stewart.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Underwood and Randy Snelling officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield where Reta will be laid to rest next to her husband.
Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Reta has requested memorial contributions may be made in her memory to First General Baptist Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home or may be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 N Cherry St., Mt. Carmel, IL 62863.
