Joan E. Wolfe died on April 18, 2018, at the United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was born on April 14, 1933, on 1300 East Road, Allendale, Illinois. She married James F. Wolfe on July 21, 1951. She was predeceased in death by her husband of more than fifty years, James F. Wolfe, her parents, Franklin Michael and Rose Mary (Fox) Price and only sibling, Donna Ellen Dunkel, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She graduated from Allendale High School in 1950 and attended Wabash Valley College.
Joan is survived by three children, Nicole (Gene) Bates, Cheri (Richard) Seaton and Bradley Price (Carolyn) Wolfe. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jennifer Shaun (William) Ward, Chad (Kesha) Bates, Brent (Laura) Bates, Corey (Jaci) Seaton, Logan Price Seaton (Brittany) , Allyson (Tony) Fiscus, Kelsey Jo Wolfe, McKenzie Wolfe and a step-grandson, Edge Gher (Brooke) and fifteen great-grandchildren, Brayden, Carson and Ella Ward, Lydia, Audrey and Sydney Bates, Ava and Austin Bates, Wyatt and Hallie Seaton, Hank Seaton, Rhyan and Jake Fiscus and Jude DeCausey and Hallie Gher.
Joan was employed in Wabash County for forty years working at the Shepherd Insurance Agency and Allendale Gravel Co., served twelve years as Wabash County Clerk, Wabash Regional Planning Commission and retired after ten years with the law firm of Koger and Bramlet, P.C. at Mt. Carmel Public Utility Company. She served as Vice-President of the Illinois Assoc. of County Clerks in 1994.
Joan was an avid reader, loved to garden, sew, quilt, cook, travel and surf the Web. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Allendale, Illinois, the Eastern Star and was a charter member of the Wabash County Historical Society. She served as treasurer of the Wabash County Museum Board for ten years.
A viewing will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Graveside services will be held at the Allendale Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 20.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wabash County Museum District, P.O. Box 512, Mt. Carmel, Illinois 62863 by those who wish to do so. Envelopes will be available at Short Funeral Home.
