The funeral service for Dorothy Ewald Chapman was held Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Mt. Carmel. Reverends Jim and Jackie Summers conducted the service. It included prayer, obituary reading, scripture and message. Pianist was Alisa Gidcumb. Special songs were “May Christ Be Seen in Me” and “fur Elise” played by Alisa Gidcumb, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” sung by Rev. Jackie Summers, “Whispering Hope” played on the piano by Gary Hargett, “In the Garden” played on violin by Cathy Ewald Markman and a vocal medley of “Precious Memories,” “In the Sweet Bye and Bye” and “Safe in His Arms” sung by Evangelist, Shirley M. Van Leer. Doris Beckerman read from Proverbs 31 connecting the verse with her mother’s life. Kristin Deverman, Dorothy’s granddaughter, shared memories of her grandmother. The burial service was conducted by Reverends Jim and Jackie Summers at Highland Memorial Cemetery. “Amazing Grace” was sung by all. Pallbearers were John Ewald, Robert Ewald, James C. Ewald, James P. Ewald, Jim Markman, Jack Helton, Duane Lewis and Jon Mayhue. Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes was honored to serve the Chapman family.
