Florence McIntire, 89, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 after losing her battle with cancer. Florence passed peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born April 21, 1929 in Wabash County, Illinois the daughter of Martin S. and Katherine (Kieffer) Tennes. She married H. Keith McIntire and he preceded her in death in January of 1982.
Florence was a member of the 1947 graduating class at Mount Carmel High School and a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed working in and shopping at resale shops in the area. She loved being helpful to others. Florence had a real zest for living but her greatest passion was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
Florence will forever be remembered by her two sons, Gary (Sandra) McIntire and Stephen (Sue Harrison) McIntire all of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Christopher (Trish) McIntire, Kelly (Matthew) Hocking, Brian (Maria) McIntire, Stacy (Joel) Hefner, Sara (Josh) Galloway, Suzanne (Clayton) Meeks, Sabrina (David) Williams; nineteen great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Bernard (Beverly) Tennes of Charlotte Michigan and Robert (Ann) Tennes of Mount Carmel; one sister, Irene Somers of Champaign, Illinois.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Loretta Boss, Marie Zimmer and Clara Rose Tennes; brothers, Leroy, Simon and Norman Tennes; daughter-in-law, Vicki McIntire.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral home with Father Bill Rowe officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Florence’s memory to Saint Mary’s School General Fund. Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
