Butch Kingsbury, 76, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 26, 1942, in Princeton, Indiana, the son of Harold and Josephine (Boswell) Kingsbury. Butch graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in the class of 1960. On January 3, 1964, he married Charlotte Rigg at the Bellmont Methodist Church. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage.
Butch served our community as a full time fireman. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Firefighters Local #4301. He started as a volunteer at the age of 16 and then became full time with the department on October 19, 1964, retiring on February 15, 2003. He was a licensed plumber, working as a third generation plumber for the family business, Kingsbury Plumbing and Heating. He began working for family at the age of 16 and later ran the family’s business. Butch attended Bellmont United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Sheriff’s Auxiliary, past member of the Eagles, Moose and Wabash County Civil Defense.
Butch loved spending time with his wife and family. He was well known in the community and waved at everyone he passed. Butch was a friendly person and met no strangers. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Butch’s memory are his wife, Charlotte, of 54 years; children, Tammy Seaton and her husband Mark, and, Chuck R. and Amy Kingsbury, both of Mt. Carmel; five granddaughters, Amber (Wayne) Hammel, Amanda (Josh) Howard, Shyla Kingsbury (fiancé, Addison Eggertsen), Taylor Kingsbury and Tori Kingsbury; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Hammel, Brooklyn Hammel, Brystal Hammel and Burkley Eggertsen; a Godson, Colby Rigg; sister, Donna (Bob) Spence; brother-in-laws, Jerry (Patty) Rigg, Steve (Vesta) Rigg and Randy Rigg (Carol Smith); and several nieces and nephews.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Butch will be Monday, December 3, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
