Sandra J. Henson, 74

Sandra J. Henson, 74, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by the love of the family.  She was born on June 17, 1944 in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of Herman “Skinny” and Loretta (Guller) Wade.  Sandy married Larry “Skeeter” Henson on July 4, 1966 at the Pentecostal Faith Assembly in Mount Carmel, Illinois.  Sandy and Skeeter enjoyed fifty years of marriage before his passing on October 26, 2016.

Sandy was a faithful member of Heartland Worship Center where she loved being a door greeter at church and loved helping in the kitchen for the various church functions.  Sandy loved being around her church family, singing praise and worship songs and praising the Lord.  In her spare time, she enjoyed decorating her porch with beautiful flowers and other seasonal decorations.  Sandy worked at Snap On Tools for thirty years.

Other activities enjoyed by Sandy included going on trips with her granddaughter Haley and her many friends.  Another treasured past-time for Sandy was the time she spent at their river camp hosting many family gatherings.  Sandy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sandy will be remembered by son, Larry (Patty) Henson; daughter, Kelly Robinson; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Jones; and two nieces.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Larry “Skeeter” Henson and daughter, Shelly (Henson) Smith.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Heartland Worship Center 221 W. 2nd Street, Mount Carmel, Illinois.  Funeral Services will be at 12:00 p.m. at the Church with Pastor Tony Hodgson officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mount Carmel, Illinois where Sandy will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

Sandy wanted to give a special thank you to her care-givers Jimmy and Sherry Dardeen; sister in law, Joan Perry; friend, Delores Ellis; a very special thank you is given to Pastor Tony and Donna Hodgson for their help and support as well as Shaun and Kim Keepes of Keepes Funeral Home.  

Memorial contributions may be made in Sandy’s memory to heartland Worship Center.
