Elizabeth “Ann” Dunkel, 80, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana surrounded by the love of her family. She was born September 28, 1938 in Posey County Indiana, the daughter of Delbert and Mary (Brandenstein) Neaveill. She married Jerry Dunkel on February 5, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mount Carmel and he survives.
Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games and playing bingo with Grandma Dunkel. Ann was an accomplished seamstress who loved to sew and also enjoyed crafting and crocheting. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Ann was a member of The Daughters of Isabella and St. Mary Catholic Church. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Ann will be remembered by her loving husband of 46 years, Jerry; sons, Brian (Holly) Dunkel of Hazelton, Indiana, Mike (Denise) Brown of Elgin, Texas, Doug Brown of Eugene Oregon; daughters, Barbara (Jim) Burns, Donna Lord, Phyllis (Phillip) Harms all of Mount Carmel, Illinois; grandchildren, Danny (Margie) Burns, Kristi Burns, Jamie (John) Hallenburger, Chad Dilley, Kim (John) Gergesketter, Brandy (Danny) Smitley, Jeramey Gillihan, Beth (Jake) Shaw, Bobby Brown, Logan (Keena) Brown, Katie Dunkel, Jared Dunkel, Kayla (Pete) Rivas, Robert Brown, Jefferson Brown and many great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Delores Neavill.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jason Dilley; brothers, Charles and Duane Neaveill.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Mary’ Catholic Church. A Rosary Service will be held at 5:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Robert Zwilling as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
