Mary Kathryn "Kay" Simpson, 95

Mary Kathryn "Kay" Simpson, 95, of Henderson, Kentucky, died at 12:47 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, at the home of her daughter, Jill.  She was lovingly cared for by her family.

            "Katy", as she was called by her family, was born December 5, 1922, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Bessie Marguerite (Miller) and Everett Crow.  She graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1934.  On February 6, 1946, she married Sherman Edward Simpson in Mount Carmel.

            “Kay” was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Henderson.  She was treasurer of Lucy Moss Circle and attended Wesley Fellowship Sunday School.  She was a member of the Mount Carmel Chapter of DAR and "Afternooners" KY Extension of Homemakers.  She was an Avon Representative since 1970.

            The Simpsons lived in Fairfield, Illinois, came to Henderson in 1949, lived in Mount Carmel from 1962-68, and then returned to Henderson.

            "Kay" was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sherman, who died in 2008; her baby sister, Margaret Ann; her older sister, Elizabeth Lant; and one niece, Sandra Wilson.

            Survivors include her daughter, Jill Ann (Dale) Campbell, granddaughter, Kayci Lynn Coyne, and great-granddaughters, Lilly-Ann Marie Dennis and Faith Marie Coyne, all of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and daughter, Sara "Sally" Lynn Simpson and friend, Darcy J. Ackley, of Bloomington, Illinois.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

            Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2018, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, 604 Center Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420.  The Reverend James Wofford will officiate.

            Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

            Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mount Carmel, Illinois, with the Reverend Cindy Green officiating.

            Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Kentucky in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, or First United Methodist Church in Henderson, Kentucky.
