Dale Q. Miller, 88

Dale Q. Miller, 88, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, entered eternal life on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at his residence.

His spirit is carried on by his wife, Marcella of fourteen years; children, Stacey Goel and husband David of Weston, Massachusetts, Michael Miller of Vincennes, Indiana, Michele Rankin and husband Dr. Gary of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Lisa Miller (deceased); grandchildren, Elizabeth-Grace Goel and Noah Goel, Gunnar Miller and Chase Lewis.

We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Dale by observing how he lived his life. Dale was an unequivocally committed husband and father to his family. For him, family came first while all else was secondary. He taught us that loyalty and love are eternal and not conditional. Integrity, tenacity and honor were the bedrock of Dale’s character; he would rather walk the arduous straight path for miles rather than taking a short-cut that contradicted his principles. A lover of car racing, Dale taught us to appreciate that the roar of a finely tuned race engine was music to the ears.

He was born June 4, 1929, in Wabash County, Illinois, the son of George and Fannie (Kamp) Miller. Dale attended Mt. Carmel High School. He proudly served his country as an Air Force Police Officer during World War II. On January 24, 2003, he married Marcella Lewis in Olney, Illinois.

Dale attended Parkview Christian Church. He was owner/operator of Miller Testing in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

Proceeding Dale in death were his parents; brothers, Warren, Ron and Norman Miller, and, sisters, Eloise Stahlhut and Shirley Voorhees.

The funeral service for Dale will be Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Visitation will be held Saturday prior to the funeral from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive.
