Darwin K. Johnson, 70, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Wabash General Hospital. He was born on March 24, 1947 in Elgin, Illinois the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Shear) Johnson. Darwin married Karen (Green) Johnson and she preceded him in death on September 9, 2010.
Darwin faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them especially his grandchildren. Darwin was a redi- mix truck driver for the Teamsters. Among his hobbies, Darwin loved riding motorcycles and fishing. He enjoyed his many friendships and greatly enjoyed talking with friends. Darwin was an avid collector of many things. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Darwin will be remembered by his two daughters, Shari (David) Easterday and Stacey (Michael) Stewart; grandchildren, Brian (Amber) Covalt, Chad (Ashley) Covalt, Brianna (Jerod Majors) Covalt, Devyn Stewart and Cole Stewart; six great grandchildren with one on the way; brothers, Calvin Johnson and Douglas Johnson; several nieces and nephews.
Darwin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen Johnson; daughter, Kristen Johnson; great grandson, Aiden Covalt; and brother, Duewan Johnson.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Family and friends may gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017.
