Mt. Carmel Man Picked Up On FTA Warrant

On 11/09/24, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Clayton S. Kirkman, age 38, of Mt. Carmel on a Wabash County Failure to Appear Warrant along with an Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Violation Warrant.  Kirkman was observed in the 400 block of Poplar Street where he was placed under arrest without incident.  Kirkman was transported to the Wabash County Jail, issued the warrants, and held pending extradition back to an Illinois Department of Corrections facility. 

Fight At VFW Sends Allendale Man To Jail

On 11/04/24, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Dennis B. Milligan, age 65, of Allendale for Aggravated Battery following a fight in progress call at the VFW.  Police were called to the scene where they found the alleged victim at the bar with blood on his face.  Police investigated the incident and, after speaking to all involved, determined that the alleged victim was battered following a verbal argument while in the bathroom.  One witness reported seeing Milligan strike the victim multiple times while they tried to stop the fight.  The alleged victim wished to pursue charges against Milligan and was allowed to do so.  Milligan was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was processed and later released on a Notice to Appear in court.  The Wabash County Sheriff’s Office assisted MCPD. 

Evansville Man Faces Multiple Charges Following Domestic Dispute

On 10/12/24, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Charles C. Brown III, age 45, of Evansville, Indiana for Criminal Damage to Property, Assault, and Theft following a domestic dispute at a residence in the 1900 block of N Cherry Street.  It was alleged that during the dispute, Brown had broken numerous things around the home including the dining room table.  Also, during this time, it was alleged that Brown made several threatening statements to the resident causing fear for her safety.  Officers allowed the alleged victim to sign a complaint against Brown for Assault and Criminal Damage to Property.  Upon his arrest, officers located two pill bottles containing prescribed medication belonging to the alleged victim.  The victim signed an additional charge for that violation as well.  Brown was taken to the Wabash County Jail where he was issued his charges and released on a Notice to Appear. 

Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest Of Princeton Woman

On 10/18/24, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Tayler L. Myers, age 23, of Princeton, Indiana on a Gibson County Felony Theft Warrant.  Myers was the driver of a black Chevrolet truck that had been stopped for a violation of the Illinois Vehicle Code at Walnut & Southgate Dr.  Myers was taken into custody and transported to the Wabash County Jail pending extradition back to Gibson County.  MCPD was assisted by the Illinois State Police on the stop. 

Wanted man arrested for fleeing law enforcement

On November 12, 2024, at 9:07 a.m. Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies went to the 900 block of North County Road 500 West to serve a Felony arrest warrant for nonsupport of a child on 29 year old Jason Martin of Princeton. Upon arriving on scene Deputies observed Mr. Martin run from the back of a residence to a lay down lot at a local business where he attempted to hide from law enforcement.  Sgt. Loren Barchett arrived in the area with K9 partner “Duke” and after announcing that a K9 was on scene Mr. Martin came out of a culvert that he was hiding in and was taken into custody.

Deputy Wes Baumgart transported Mr. Martin to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with a new charge of Resisting Law Enforcement in addition to the outstanding Nonsupport warrant.   

Deputy Baumgart was assisted by Sgt. Loren Barchett, Deputy Michael Owens, Deputy Quinten Might, Deputy Jennifer Loesch, Deputy U.B. Smith, and K9 Duke.  Also assisting were Princeton Officers Jason Swan, Dan Goedde, and Craig Zurliene. 

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
 

Evansville Man Sentenced To 15 Years On Wabash County Drug Charge

Kelli Storckman, Wabash County State’s Attorney, reports that on November 12, 2024, Christopher T. Lawson, a 39-year-old Evansville, Indiana man, was sentenced to 15 years in the Department of Corrections, to be followed by 12 months of mandatory supervised release by the Honorable Circuit Judge William C. Hudson in Wabash County Circuit Court.


State’s Attorney Storckman advises that the Defendant was arrested on May 29, 2024, following a MCPD traffic stop of Lawson.  Inside the vehicle of Lawson was located 60.5 grams of methamphetamine. The defendant was sentenced to the Department of Corrections on a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 1 Felony.

CARMEL’S LEAF PICKUP PROGRAM. PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR MIKE GIDCUMB SAID CREWS HAVE MADE TRIAL RUNS WITH THE LEAF REMOVAL EQUIPMENT AND THE PLAN IS TO BEGIN RESIDENTIAL PICKUP NEXT WEEK.
