Allendale PreK Penny Drive for Animal Shelter

The Allendale PreK class sponsored a Penny Drive for the Mt. Carmel Animal Shelter. Each class was asked to bring in their change this week to support the cause. The winning class was 4th grade. Altogether, the PreK class will be taking a check for $1,272 to the Animal Shelter when they go on a field trip for a tour. This fundraiser coincided with their recent unit on Pets. In the picture is the winning class, 4th grade, along with the PreK class.

ISP INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC CRASH WITH INJURIES

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12

WHAT:                        Single Vehicle Traffic Crash with Injuries

WHERE:                   Interstate 70 westbound near Milepost 108, Cumberland County

WHEN:                      April 8, 2022 at 2:24 a.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1 – Gray 2020 Freightliner Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer

                                              

DRIVER:                   Unit 1 – Gurlal Singh, a 25-year-old male from Ozone Park, NY – Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 near Milepost 108 in Cumberland County. For unknown reasons, Unit 1 left the roadway to the left, crossed through the grass median and struck a concrete bridge support on the westbound side of the interstate. The driver of Unit 1 was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further information will be disseminated.

 

CHARGES:               Singh was cited for Improper Lane Use.

 

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Wabash General Hospital Earns ACR Accreditation

Wabash General Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Mammography is a specific type of imaging test that uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.

The ACR, founded in 1924, is a professional medical society dedicated to serving patients and society by empowering radiology professionals to advance the practice, science and professions of radiological care. The College serves more than 37,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

 

ISP RELEASES VIDEO FOR OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING AFTER COLLINSVILLE HOMICIDE

Pana, IL – The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Internal Investigation (DII) continues its investigation into the discharge of an Illinois State Police Trooper’s duty weapon after the pursuit of a homicide suspect wanted in connection with the murder of two women in the Collinsville area on April 2, 2022.

In accordance with the ISP’s commitment to integrity and public transparency, the video of the event is being made available to the public and can be found by clicking here.

This video is being released after consultation with the Christian County State’s Attorney and the families of the deceased individuals involved in the events of April 2, 2022.

This remains an ongoing investigation being conducted by ISP DII and is under review by the Christian County State’s Attorney’s Office.  No additional information is available at this time.

Teen Driver Injured & Ticketed Following Three Vehicle Crash On I-57

WHERE:                   On the ramp from Fayette Avenue to Interstate 57, milepost 159, near Effingham, Effingham County

 

WHEN:                      April 6, 2022 at approximately 3:25 p.m.

  

VEHICLES:              Unit 1 – 2014 Gray Chevrolet Malibu

 

                                    Unit 2 – 2009 Red Peterbilt Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination

 

                                    Unit 3 – 2010 Orange Peterbilt Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination

                                               

DRIVERS:                 Unit 1 – A 16-year-old female from Shobonier, IL. Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

                                    Unit 2 – A G Franks, a 58-year-old male from Hayti, MO.

 

                                    Unit 3 – Jarrod Vogel, a 51-year-old male from Pueblo, CO.

PRELIMINARY:      A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling southbound on the ramp from Fayette Avenue to Interstate 57 southbound, milepost 159, behind Unit 3.  Unit 1 attempted to pass Unit 3 as they merged onto Interstate 57 and struck the semi-trailer of Unit 2 that was traveling on Interstate 57 southbound at milepost 159.  Unit 1 lost control, and then struck the semi-trailer of Unit 3.  All Units came to rest on the right shoulder.  The driver of Unit 1 was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Both Unit 2 and Unit 3 drivers reported no injuries. 

CHARGES:               Unit 1 driver was cited for No Valid Driver’s License, Improper Lane Usage, and Driver Required to Wear a Seatbelt.

Residents Again Warned Against Blowing Grass Into The Street

Another ritual of Spring received its’ annual admonition at Monday’s city council meeting. Street commissioner Tom Meeks addressed people blowing their grass into the street when they mow… 

City officials are also asking for your patience this week as Republic Services continues to pick up large items during Clean Up Week. If you had items set out for pick up on Monday, Republic will get to them officials say. 

Mt. Carmel Man Jailed For Aggravated Domestic Battery

On 4/6/22, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Daniel E. Dydo, age 26, of Mt. Carmel, for Aggravated Domestic Battery, following a domestic dispute at a residence in the 300 block of West 2nd Street. Upon investigation, officers found evidence to indicate Dydo struck his fiancé repeatedly in the forehead causing a laceration to the area. The victim required medical treatment due to the injury. Officers contacted Dydo where he agreed to meet officers in the area of 13th & College Dr and turn himself in. Upon arrival, Dydo was taken into custody and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery with bond set at $7500 cash. MCPD was assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office.

Mother & Daughter Arrested Following Domestic Dispute


On 4/7/22, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Ashley A. Harms, age 21, of Mt. Carmel, for Aggravated Domestic Battery and her mother, Valerie C. Schrader, age 41, of Allendale, for Domestic Battery, following a physical dispute between both at a residence in the 1300 block of N Cherry Street. Officers arrived at the scene to find Schrader in need of medical attention, so Wabash General Ambulance Service responded as well. During their investigation, police found evidence to indicate that Harms pushed Schrader to the ground during their argument. Schrader’s arm was later found to be broken from the fall. Prior to this incident, Harms had been awoken by Schrader pulling her hair and grabbing her. Both were taken to the Wabash County Jail where they were charged for said offenses. Harms is being held pending a bond setting by a judge while Schrader was released from the jail due to the nature of her injuries.
