On 4/7/22, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Ashley A. Harms, age 21, of Mt. Carmel, for Aggravated Domestic Battery and her mother, Valerie C. Schrader, age 41, of Allendale, for Domestic Battery, following a physical dispute between both at a residence in the 1300 block of N Cherry Street. Officers arrived at the scene to find Schrader in need of medical attention, so Wabash General Ambulance Service responded as well. During their investigation, police found evidence to indicate that Harms pushed Schrader to the ground during their argument. Schrader’s arm was later found to be broken from the fall. Prior to this incident, Harms had been awoken by Schrader pulling her hair and grabbing her. Both were taken to the Wabash County Jail where they were charged for said offenses. Harms is being held pending a bond setting by a judge while Schrader was released from the jail due to the nature of her injuries.
