Domestic Battery Investigation Results In Meth Charges

08/16/2019-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 27 year old Richard L. Reed of Mt. Carmel after investigating a possible domestic battery in the 500 block of N. Division Street. During the investigation, police located several items used in conjunction with methamphetamine. Reed was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal use of property under the methamphetamine statute. Reed was held pending the posting of bond.

Evansville Man Picked Up On Warrant

08/15/2019-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 27 year old Ethan K. Adams of Evansville, Indiana. Adams was arrested by a MCPD Officer after he saw him walking in the 200 block of Walnut Street. The arresting officer knew Adams was wanted on a Vanderburgh County (Indiana) warrant and placed him under arrest. Adams was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the transfer to Indiana.

Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest

08/14/2019-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 35 year old Angelo Johnson of Mt. Carmel after he was stopped for a traffic violation in the 1400 block of W. 9th Street.  During the traffic stop it was discovered that Johnson was driving on a suspended driver’s license.  Johnson was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for driving while license is suspended.  Johnson was held pending the posting of bond.

Princeton Man Arrested For Driving While Suspended

08/14/2019-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 22 year old Wyatt S. Rogers of Princeton, Indiana after police stopped him in the 200 block of W. 2nd Street. During the traffic stop it was discovered that Rogers was driving on a suspended driver’s license. Rogers was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with driving on a suspended license and no valid insurance. Rogers was held pending the posting of bail.

WVC OFFERING FOOD SERVICE SANITATION & SAFETY (MANAGER’S CERTIFICATION)

Wabash Valley College will be offering a Food Service Sanitation & Safety (Manager’s Certification) RST 1601 class taught by Lisa Shook, an approved FSSMC instructor, using a core curriculum provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The class will meet on Saturday, September 7 and Saturday, September 14, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Applied Arts Building, Room 107. ServSafe testing is scheduled for the last day of classes.

Pre-Registration is required. Please call Student Services at 618-262-8641 to reserve a seat for this class. The cost will be $52 if a student takes 4 credit hours or less.

Students will be eligible to take a ServSafe class which is a “certification” class. THE STUDENT WILL NEED TO PURCHASE THE SERVSAFE BOOK PRIOR TO THE FIRST MEETING OF THE CLASS IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE TEST. THE SERVSAFE BOOK WILL HAVE THE REQUIRED SCANTRON FOR THE NATIONAL TESTING. THIS BOOK CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE WVC CAMPUS STORE.

City to Install Water Fountain to Oak Street

Next Spring, those using the walking and jogging path along Oak Street will be able to stop for a water break. Mt. Carmel Water Commissioner Justin Dulgar announced at Monday’s City Council meeting that he is overseeing the installation of a drinking fountain near one of the benches along the Oak Street sidewalk near the elementary school. Dulgar said the fountain will cost approximately $4,000 and will be paid out of the water fund. It will also accommodate pets.

Chamber Members Learn Importance Of Disaster Mitigation Plans

No matter its’ size, every business needs a plan of action should disaster strike. That was the message today to members of the Wabash County Chamber of Commerce from Steven Groner, Community and Economic Development Educator from the University of Illinois. Groner said disasters come in many forms ranging from fire to tornadoes to floods to even a key employee leaving. Groner outlined the steps necessary for a successful disaster mitigation plan and he said getting started is the hardest part…

 Groner pointed to the recent water line break and subsequent relocation of Mt. Carmel City Hall as a prime example of unexpected disasters.
