Council Formally Bans Certain Kratom Products

The Mt. Carmel City Council has approved a ban on certain synthetic kratom products within the city.

During Monday afternoon's meeting, commissioners approved Ordinance 2153, prohibiting the sale and delivery of 7-hydroxymitragynine, commonly known as 7-OH, along with synthetic derivatives of kratom within the City of Mt. Carmel.

The ordinance targets concentrated and synthetic kratom-related products rather than the traditional kratom plant itself.

The measure was approved by the council Monday and establishes the city's prohibition on the sale or delivery of those products within Mt. Carmel.
