The Wabash County Sheriff’s Office is looking at a way to reduce the cost of food and other supplies for inmates at the county jail.
Jail Administrator James Sullivan told the county board Monday the department currently buys food and other jail supplies from four or five different suppliers.
Sullivan is proposing a Walmart business account that would allow the sheriff’s office to purchase food, toiletries and paper products in one place.
He said Wayne County made a similar change and saved at least 10-thousand dollars.
The county board is reviewing the proposal and will consider a possible commercial account and credit card before making a decision.
