On 5/19/23, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Kendrick L. Perry, age 21, of Mt. Carmel, for Domestic Battery and Possession of Firearm Without FOID as well as Amie N. Adams, age 20, of Mt. Carmel, for Domestic Battery. The arrests stemmed from a request for officers to a residence in the 400 block of Wabash Ave regarding a domestic dispute. While enroute, officers learned that the male subject (Perry) was armed with a handgun. Officers arrived on scene and detained an intoxicated Perry while they investigated the matter further. Perry was unarmed at this time but officers later learned from Perry that he hid an unloaded Springfield 9mm handgun in the front bumper of his truck, prior to their arrival. After speaking to several witnesses, officers found evidence that Perry and Adams, who are in a dating relationship, had an argument that ultimately led both parties causing unwanted physical harm to each other. Afterward, Perry obtained the firearm and began carrying it around the home and property, possibly in an attempt to keep Adams from leaving; however, police arrived before anything further occurred. Perry was transported to the Wabash County Jail while Adams was charged and released on a Notice to Appear in court. MCPD was assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office.
