Mt. Carmel Man Faces Several Charges Following Early Morning Incident

On 5/19/23, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Timothy W. Morrison, age 45, of Mt. Carmel, for Motorist Bicycle on Sidewalk, Speeding on Motorized Bicycle, No Lamps on Bicycle, Aggravated Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, and Aggravated Intimidation.  At approximately 1:46am, the arresting officer observed a silver motorized bicycle operating on the sidewalk in the area of 9th & Walnut Street headed west on 9th.  The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop resulting in the subject, later identified as Morrison, attempting to flee from the officer’s lights and sirens while leading him around various streets including Stokes, Poplar, 10th Street and ultimately ending with him crashing the motorized bicycle in the 500 block of Sweeney Ave.  Morrison attempted to flee on foot but collapsed when doing so.  Morrison was placed under arrest and provided medical treatment before ultimately being transported to the Wabash County Jail.  During this time, Morrison made threats towards the officer about coming to his home due to this incident.  Morrison was turned over to jail staff and is being held pending a bond setting by a judge.  Mt. Carmel Police were assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office.
