New County Highway Building Moves Forward

Wabash County Commissioners are moving forward with construction of a new county highway building. At Monday’s meeting, board chairman Tim Hocking said the time has come to explore the possibility of replacing the building built in 1968. Highway engineer Dustin Bunting agreed with Hocking’s assessment of the aging building…

Hocking said preliminary ideas call for the building to include 1,500 square feet of office space and another 8,000 square feet in the shop area. Edwards County is currently constructing a new highway department building as well. Hocking said as soon as bids are opened there, that will give Wabash County officials a better understanding of what a new building will cost. ARPA money will be used for the project according to Hocking.
