Asphalt paving prep work will start today on six different areas of the city. The section of streets to be repaved include Pear Street from 3rd to 4th; Mulberry Street from 9th to 10th; 4th Street from Market to Mulberry; Jaquess from Market to Chestnut; and 150 feet of 5th Street from Pear toward Cherry. The work will cost just over $52,000 and will be paid out of motor fuel tax funds according to street commissioner Tom Meeks.
Today, signage will be going up in areas to be milled and paved. Then, milling work will be done this Thursday and Friday and next Monday while the paving work is scheduled for July 19th and 20th.
The repaving is in addition to the chip and seal work that will take place late this summer or early fall as part of the city’s annual summer street maintenance program.
Separately, oil and chip works is scheduled for this Wednesday and possibly Thursday in Wabash County.
