On 6/13/2022, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Trenton E. Hammond, age 29, of Mt. Carmel, on a Wabash County Warrant for Failure to Update Sex Offender Registry and Domestic Battery. Hammond is required to notify the Mt. Carmel Police Department of any employment changes and was found that Hammond failed to report quitting a job in April and that he failed to report a vehicle registered to him in March. Both changes are statutorily required for reporting and agreed upon by Hammond when registering each year. Additionally, evidence was obtained alleging Hammond committed domestic battery by striking his girlfriend in May while outside of his residence in the 400 block of W 5th Street as well. Hammond was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was issued the warrant and held pending the posting of $2500 cash bond.
