ISP TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT
WHAT: Two Vehicle Fatal Traffic Crash
WHERE: Illinois Route 15 eastbound, just west of County Road 2450 East, Wayne County
WHEN: April 28, 2022 at approximately 1:35 p.m.
VEHICLES: Unit 1 – 2008 Silver Dodge Charger
Unit 2 - 2015 White Kenworth Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination
DRIVERS: Unit 1 – Porscha M. Schultz, 24-year-old female from Fairfield, IL – Flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Unit 2 – Jordan M. Ambrous, 29-year-old male from Carmi, IL
PASSENGERS: Unit 1 – Alissa J. Crum, 24-year-old female from Altamont, IL – Flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Unit 1 – A 1-year-old male from Fairfield, IL – Deceased
PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Units 1 and 2 were traveling eastbound on Illinois Route 15, just west of County Road 2450 East, Wayne County. Unit 1 had pulled over on the west bound shoulder at a mail box. Unit 1 then pulled back onto the roadway and was struck in the rear by Unit 2. The driver and front seat passenger of Unit 1 were flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries. The rear seat passenger of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased on scene by the Wayne County Coroner. The driver of Unit 2 reported no injuries. The driver of Unit 2 was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. The roadway was closed during the crash investigation for approximately 6 hours and was opened at approximately 7:10 p.m. This is an on-going investigation and no further information is available at this time.
