Signage indicates work will start next week on the Cherry Street project next week in Mt. Carmel.
But, Illinois Department of Transportation Project Implementation Engineer Tim Hemmen, tells WSJD, “The contractor had planned to start work on the Bridge next week using flaggers, (not closing the roadway) due to weather conditions the start has been postponed. The contractor may come in to do some work in the near future but the bridge will be open using flaggers to guide traffic. Once we have a better idea as to when the contractor will need to close the roadway we will have the message boards up a week prior indicating the closure. We will also put out a press release the week prior to the closure discussing the detour.”
