Newburgh woman arrested on outstanding warrant and drug possession

On April 15, 2021, at 10:18 p.m., Gibson County Deputy Zach Lienemann conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Fort Branch on a White Ford Thunderbird for having False and Fictitious plates. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Lienemann identified the driver as 38-year-old Kara Smith of Newburgh, Indiana. While speaking with Ms. Smith Deputy Lienemann was notified by Gibson County Central Dispatch that Ms. Smith had an active warrant through Vanderburgh County. At that point Deputy Lienemann placed Ms. Smith into custody and a vehicle inventory was conducted of the vehicle. During the inventory illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were found. Ms. Smith was transported to the Gibson County Jail where she was charged with Possession of Methamphetamines and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She remains in custody on a $1500 bond through Gibson County and an outstanding warrant through Vanderburgh County.
