5 Evansville Residents Seriously Injured In Snow Wreck On Dieterich Blacktop

ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT  

 

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12 

  

WHAT:                      Two Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash  

  

WHERE:                   Dieterich Blacktop at East Park Street, Sailor Springs, Clay County

 

WHEN:                      Feb. 8, 2021 at approximately 5:35 p.m.                

  

VEHICLES:              Unit 1- 2002 Maroon Chevrolet Tahoe         

                                    Unit 2- 2019 White International Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination

 

DRIVERS:                 Unit 1- Dani Escobar, 42-year-old male from Evansville, IN – Transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

                                    Unit 2- Ricky Burton, 56-year-old male from Salem, IL – Transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

PASSENGERS:         Unit 1- 3-year-old female from Evansville, IN – Transported to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.

                                    Unit 1- 4-year-old male from Evansville, IN – Transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

                                    Unit 1- Roxanne Rivera, 41-year-old female from Evansville, IN – Transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

                                    Unit 1- Corallia Ramirez, 25-year-old female from Evansville, IN – Transported to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.

 

PRELIMINARY:      A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred:  Unit 1 was traveling south on the Dieterich Blacktop near East Park Street in Clay County. The driver of Unit 1 lost control in the snow and crossed into the northbound lane, striking Unit 2 head-on. A 3-year-old passenger and 25-year-old passenger in Unit 2 were ejected. All subjects were transported to hospitals for treatment of injuries.

 

CHARGES:               The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, No Valid Driver’s License and Improper Lane Usage.

 

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
