On February 21, 2021, at 5:49 a.m. Gibson County Deputy U.B. Smith was dispatched to the 600 block of East Tretter Park Drive in Fort Branch to investigate a traffic accident. Upon arriving in the area Deputy Smith observed a Black 2014 Chrysler 200 had struck a small White trailer that was parked along the roadway. Further Deputy Smith was advised that the driver of the Black Chrysler 200 had left the scene after the accident. While Deputy Smith was investigating the accident 21-year-old Ryan Flanagan of Owensville returned to the scene. At that point upon speaking with Mr. Flanagan Deputy Smith believed the driver to be intoxicated and began a roadside DUI investigation. At the conclusion of his investigation Deputy Smith transported Mr. Flanagan to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, and Criminal Mischief. He remains in custody on a $650 bond.
