Traffic stop nets arrest of Cincinnati trio

On June 22, 2020, at 8:51, Deputy U.B. Smith conducted a traffic stop on a Gold 2004 Chevy Impala for speeding on Interstate 64 near the Posey County line. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith was able to identify the driver as 47-year-old Stacie Jones of Cincinnati Ohio. Deputy Smith also asked for the identifications of other person in the vehicle, but neither individual was able to produce an identification card. At that point Deputy Smith gathered the identifiers of the two passengers and attempted to get a return through the National Crime Information Center. However, Deputy Smith was unable to positively identify one of the persons in the vehicle. At that point Deputy Smith began a roadside investigation. During the investigation Deputy Smith observed the passengers trying to conceal an object inside the vehicle. At that point with the assistance of Deputy Jennifer Loesch they removed all persons from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle found illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and the identification card of the passenger who could not be identified. At that point it was discovered that the passenger, 27-year-old Isaiah Wilmont of Cincinnati had provided Deputy Smith with false information in the hopes of hindering his investigation and not being properly identified. It was learned during the investigation that Mr. Wilmont lied about his identity because he believed he had an outstanding warrant. At the conclusion of Deputy Smith’s investigation Ms. Jones, Mr. Wilmont, and a third passenger, 56-year-old Melvin Stanford also of Cincinnati were all taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail.

Upon arriving Ms. Jones was charged with Possession of Paraphernalia. She has since posted a $900 bond. Mr. Wilmont was charged with False Informing/ Hindering Law Enforcement. He has since posted an $1100 bond, and Mr. Stanford was charged with Possession of Paraphernalia and Possession of Methamphetamines. He remains in custody on a $1000 bond.
