Crash Near Effingham Injures 3

ISP TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police

District 12

 

 

WHAT:                      Two Vehicle Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   US 40 approximately 2 miles West of Effingham, Effingham County

WHEN:                      April 13, 2020 at 8:37 p.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1- 2005 Black Jeep SUV

                                    Unit 2- 2014 White/Blue Ford E350 Emergency Vehicle

DRIVER:                   Unit 1- Joshua Bobbitt, 21 year old male from Effingham, IL - transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries

                                    Unit 2- Krystal Garrett, 34 year old female from Windsor, IL – transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries

PASSENGER:          Unit 2- Steven Sherwood, 53 year old male from Greenup, IL – transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries

PRELIMINARY:     A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling east on US 40 near county road 1075 east. Unit 2 was traveling west at the same location. The driver of Unit 1 stated he was distracted from inside the vehicle and crossed the center line, striking Unit 2 head on. Both drivers and a passenger from Unit 2 were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both lanes of US 40 were closed for approximately 1 hour during the crash investigation.

 

            CHARGES:               Unit 1 driver was cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

                                               

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
